Gina Charsley

On 28th January 2003 Gina Charsley, a member of Abingdon Community Church, flew from Heathrow to Hong Kong. She was going to start a new job with an organisation which places professionals in China.

Jian Hua means “Build China” in Chinese and was founded in 1981 by a group of Hong Kong businessmen and academics. Its mission statement is to build China through cooperation in education, development, medical and social services by serving the people of China with compassion, integrity and expertise.

Jian Hua seeks to recruit doctors, nurses, teachers, accountants, surveyors, engineers and many other professionals from many nations to serve the people of China. Once there they work with the local people to train and equip them to provide for themselves.  The associates seek to work alongside the Chinese staff rather than take over the running of the organisation. Generally Jian Hua is particularly concerned with the poorer, more remote parts of the country.

For more information about Gina or if you would like to receive her newsletters please contact Ed Evans. If you would like more information about Jian Hua please visit their web site.
