Know God, accept no substitutes

We are now up to the second commandment on idolatry.

In the Old Testament the Israelites constantly worshipped idols made of wood, stone or other obvious (to us) competition to the one real God. What is not always obvious to us is what our present idols are.

Possessions. This might be a desire to obtain more possessions or to put our existing possessions at the front of our daily lives.

Prestige. Many will want to be seen as important, or more impotant, than they are. There is of course just one who is the most important - but where is He in your life?

Power. On a simliar line to Prestige, are we trying to push ourselves to the front.
