We often say that we believe that God has called us to be an 'apostolic' church; but what does this mean in practice?
In the Bible 'apostolic' has to do with those leaders who established and helped a number of churches, training and sending workers.
The 'Apostolic Ministry Team'
As a group of churches together we recognise a group of leaders known as the ‘Apostolic Ministry Team’. This team provides oversight, training and help for the local leaders and churches (a bit like consultants in a business environment!).
Wider links
OCC also has strong links with other leaders and churches across the UK and wider afield. This network of leaders is known as ‘Salt and Light Ministries’ (take a look at the website www.saltlight.org/europe for more information).
A number of OCC leaders are also involved in S&L: Steve Thomas leads the Salt and Light European Apostolic Team and often travels giving advice and input to church leaders. Andy O'Connell leads the S&L Administration, serving Steve and EAT. David Freeman, who serves Christian schools linked to the related churches, is also part of this team. Geoff and Mary Norridge lead the S&L Pastoral Training Course.
We are also members of the Evangelical Alliance.
King's Bible College & Training Centre
King’s Bible College and Training Centre (KBCTC) is a resource for our wider European and international family of churches. Located with us at The King’s Centre in Oxford, KBCTC is a great blessing to us in Oxfordshire, with students often placed in our churches for practical ministry experience. See www.kbctc.org for more information.
Other Nations
We are committed to serving other churches and nations. Over recent years we have sent leaders, short-term teams and longer-term workers to the following nations, to teach, serve, and bring practical help and advice: Zambia, Kazakstan, India, Germany, France, Northern Ireland, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Poland, Turkey, China, Rwanda, Burundi, Kenya. We also have members serving in several other nations on a long-term basis in some of these nations.
