Back in 1604
The history of Cote goes back to Wycliffe's Poore Preachers who taught at Longworth across the River Thames in the late 15th Century.
The first 'meeting house' is recorded in 1604 and the first minister of the Longworth / Cote meeting was appointed in 1652. The first chapel at Cote was built in 1704, the present chapel, built in 1756 and is one of the oldest in the country. It is under the ownership of The Historic Chapels Trust.
Today
Today we meet in the more modern Fellowship Centre in Aston with facilities for children's work and a crèche.
Stronger Together - Our Family Ties
We began to share fellowship with a group of Christians meeting in Witney in the late 1970s and eventually out of these initial meetings Oxfordshire Community Churches (OCC) has evolved.
OCC has grown to many congregations spread over Oxfordshire, but relating closely to one another realising that our strength is in working together. We believe we can be more effective in the County as we 'join forces' than any of us can be individually.
