Keep on running

It's all smiles at the start and then your legs get tired, your daughter gets a stitch, you're out of breath and yet you want to keep on going. It's been a month since I last posted and 3 weeks since this run - it's been a head down, dig in and keep on going kind of a time. Life is hectic not just with 3 children (I was going to saying small children - but they're rapidly growing so we'r moving into a different phase) they are a joy and a delight.  But all of life seems to happen at the end of the summer term, it can get wearisome: school events, church activities, the weather, people reacting badly, your own badly formed responses to people and situations. I hold onto these verses :

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us

God has a race marked out for me and he has the goods that I need to run it - I may not run as fast or as well as anyone else - but I can run it to the best of my ability. And if I have to stop and pause for a bit before I keep on going - God doesn't mind - he quite likes stopping to look at the view. At the dark clouds brewing over the hills, at the joy in a ticklish child's laughter, at the pleasure of eating cake or the poppies in the fields, at my soul delighting in the love of my Saviour.

Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
