Doing something Crazy - with God

How crazy would you like to get?! I am so thankful I have friends around me who are prepared to step out in faith to answer God's call - and who are prepared to involve me in the journey. I bumped into Caroline at school who said "I've booked to pray at 2am in the morning at St Aldates prayer room - care to join me?" How often have our best adventures started with a chance meeting or a casual comment!!?

As you know prayer in the early morning has been on my mind recently and thinking about the watches of the night - got me thinking about driving into Oxford at 1.30 in the morning to pray with one friend and 7 strangers. As I ummed and ahhed I asked the question "Why would I not go and pray? What reason can there be for not praying?" I couldn't come up with one and nor could Neil! So last Friday/Saturday saw me driving through a sparkly cold night into Oxford to pray. I felt bold and dangerous (how sad am I) but it truly was exhilarating.

It was in no way comparable to those who risk their lives for the gospel in Afghanistan or elsewhere, it cost me nothing more than a little sleep and some petrol. But it said something, it did something in the heavenlies.....

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.  (2 chronicles 7v14)

God's waiting for us to do something, to turn to him, to pray, to exult in a cold and starry night and ask Him to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Prayer works -we might not see it immediately - but God is faithful and i'm excited about what he wants to do - with me and with this part of our nation and beyond.....
