Part of Oxfordshire Community Churches

Love Oxford

It’s this Sunday! 11am, South Park.

Christians from many churches across the city will be coming together to worship, to pray and to hear God’s word.

Michael Ramsden is speaking in the main morning event, which promises to be very good indeed. Michael is an amazing communicator. After picnics and bouncy castles, Heidi Baker will be there, which is a great privilege and will certainly open many people’s eyes and expand everyone’s thinking.

'Love Oxford' provides a fascinating snapshot of the church in Oxford. Its diversity is amazing. There are rich Christians and poor Christians. There are congregations worshipping Jesus in Punjabi, Mandarin, Korean, Portuguese, Polish, to name a few. More than 30 new churches have been planted in the city since 1990, and most of their members will be in South Park on Sunday.

As I’ve been praying about ‘Love Oxford’, I’ve felt God saying that he plans to do something quite new on a large scale for the church across the city. The future of the church cannot be predicted from its history. Although there has been a long-term decline in churchgoing in our city, I believe that this should be seen as a pruning to bring about fresh growth. Now, the clear majority of today’s churchgoers are far more than regular attenders – they are committed followers of Jesus - and that provides an amazing seedbed of opportunity...

I believe a new season of fruitfulness is coming. I believe ‘Love Oxford’ is a key. Be there! (And please pray for good weather!)
