Over 2 million people in the UK and 8 million worldwide have now done the Alpha course, which explores the meaning of life by looking at basic Christian teaching. It runs in tens of thousands of churches of all denominations across the world.
Each evening consists of a meal together, followed by a 20 minute talk on a specific subject (such as prayer or healing) and open discussion in a small group.
