Prayer

As a church, we engage in prayer in a wide range of ways. There are the weekly rhythms of prayer on Sundays and in our mid-week meetings in people's homes. There are the daily habits of personal and household prayer, like giving thanks for meals and bedtime prayers with children.

We encourage prayers with a daily text message that gives ideas of what to pray for, and we hold regular special times of corporate prayer for significant change in our city.

Daily Prayer Text

It's all too easy to forget to pray, and sometimes hard to know just what to pray for. So, we send out a message six days a week with a prayer request, by text or by e-mail. It's free to receive - and we see answers to prayer!

If you'd like to start receiving these messages, please contact the church office (01865 297 420 | oxford@occ.org.uk) and submit your mobile number or e-mail address.

You can also ask for prayer by letting us know your requests through the contacts above.

Corporate Prayer and Fasting

Every few months, we set certain days as times when we will all focus together on praying for our city. As well as praying in our homes and small groups, we then gather together to pray at The Kings Centre, often late into the night, as we call upon God to do something new in our generation. These prayer times are advertised in the news sheet and on the website, and are open to all.

Why fast? Well, fasting is a spiritual discipline that is taught in the Bible. Jesus expected His followers to fast, and he said that God rewards fasting. Fasting gives you more time for prayer (when you would normally be eating), demonstrates the depth of your desire when praying for something, and releases God’s supernatural power to work in and through your life.

If you want to read more about the benefit of fasting and how to do it, have a read of the notes below.

Sunday Morning

We also pray every Sunday before the morning meeting in the Cotswold Hall. This is a great time to gain a heart for the church as a whole, as we pray for many aspects. Please join us at 10:00am as we pray for God's Spirit to be working more powerfully among us!
