The Y9 group recently had a week in Germany and Becky gave us this account.
'The week began with a very early start; we had to be at school for 3.35am! But two bus journeys and a flight later, we were in Reichenbach, Germany. Y9 were all nervous and a bit unsure about the first meeting with our hosts, but it didn't take long for us to get to know each other! Several of the afternoons consisted of just us alone with our hosts, where we got the opportunity to all see Germany in different ways. The hosts were all very welcoming and by the end of the week, we didn't want to leave them behind!
The times when we were together as a group were fantastic - we journeyed to Plauen, Modlareuth (a village separated by the Berlin Wall) and even Dresden. There were a lot of laughs along the way. In the mornings we often visited the hosts' school where we helped out with a few English lessons. There were plenty of opportunities to shop and buy souvenirs too and one evening we got to see a public viewing os a football game, Germany against Austrilia, in Reichenbach's town square. The atmosphere was great there, especially when the score ended up to be 4-0 to Germany! Wherever we went it was always a laugh and we were all upset when the bus drove up to take us home. We all made such great friends with the hosts and now can't wait for them to come back in September. Thank you to everyone who made the trip possible.' (Becky, Y9)
