The Year 6 girls recently visited Kamrans Ward at the Children’s Centre, part of the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford. They delivered thirty-nine bags which they had made in sewing lessons at school and which will be used to protect drains that are inserted during surgical procedures. The girls were able to see the play area and school room that the children use during their stay in the hospital and the “doll” which reassures patients about what happens during operations.

The Year 6 pupils as a whole have also been busy working on the school garden. All through the summer term thay have been working on the garden and were awarded a Silver Gilt Certificate following the inspection by representatives of Witney Town Council, the Rotary Club and the Horticultural Society. The judges were impressed by the students’ enthusiasm, knowledge and the range of plants they had grown in the small, shared space.
Great work Y6!
