The Y8s go sketching!

Our Y8s, accompanied by Mr and Mrs Wilton, recently visited Cotswold Wildlife Park, taking with them a few pencils, art books and cameras. Here are some of Mrs Wilton's reflections of the trip.

“In glorious sunshine, news of our arrival spread fast and some gibbons turned out to serenade us loudly in song and dance. The 20 month old crocodiles hatched at the Park piled on top of each other and pressed against the glass to catch sight of us and were cute enough to sketch and photograph. Then when we arrived in the walled garden at feeding time for the penguins, some of them were speed swimming and leaping the water as if to demonstrate how fast they could go in the wild if they had to escape the attention of seals or whales.
In “Madagascar” not a lemur was to be seen until 5 minutes to noon when they sent lookouts to watch the gate for the keeper bringing lunch. We had left our picnics in the minibus, having been warned that lemurs search for and sample any food however well hidden! Suddenly there were leaping lemurs everywhere following the food, including mums with multiple babies on their backs. I noticed all the little ones ate their greens - yum …parsley! Some good attempts at sketching were made but there was no ‘posing’ while there was food to be had and students had to work fast.”

Altogether, it sounds as if God blessed the Y8s with lovely weather and a wonderful reminder of His creation. Have a look at some of the sketches that the pupils produced.
