worth waiting for

I saw a kingfisher last week!! In fact I saw it twice. Zoe and I have been in a fierce (but friendly) competition - which she won over 2 years ago (!) to see a kingfisher...it was worth the wait - stunning and beautiful - just sat by letcombe brook - unconcerned by it's audience.

Then I was at ffald y brenin at the weekend - it was good but not miraculous, peaceful but not amazing, hardwork but not wearisome. I went in obedience, hoping to see someone healed and set free and God certainly did stuff, but to all outward appearances - things remain the same. What do we do when things don't seem to change, when we think God has spoken but nothing happens?

For no matter how many promises God has made, they are “Yes” in Christ. And so through him the “Amen”is spoken by us to the glory of God. Now it is God who makes both us and you stand firm in Christ. He anointed us, set his seal of ownership on us, and put his Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come. (2 corinthians 1v20-22)

God's promises to us are yes and amen. we can trust him - God is good - All the time.

I read an interesting proverb this morning "An inheritance quickly gained will not be blessed at the end" , I've been reading the stories of heroes of the faith - smith wigglesworth and others. They prayed for years for change, they talk of praying for hundreds of people before one was healed. God's timing is not always my own and the path he has for me is not always the most straighforward. Bill Johnson talks about his son who is deaf praying for people who get healed of deafness, without himself being healed! He says: We will continue to live in the understanding we have, and embrace the mystery we are required to live with, knowing that God is perfectly faithful and good beyond measure.

I want to see heaven come on earth, I want to see my prayers answered on earth as it is done in heaven.

I know it will be worth the wait.
