Hope for the future

It seems that after a late spring - there's hope that summer is now on it's way. There certainly seem to have been more sunny days than rainy days recently...I have been meditating on this verse from Romans recently:

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.

Our God is a God of hope - he's a good God who loves us and has good things for us. A reason to live and a reason to love. He wants to fill us with joy and peace, our joy and peace are so easily eroded and sidetracked by the circumstances and situations we find ourselves in. It seems that God hasn't answered our prayers and perhaps isn't going to! That he isn't listening, doesn't care and we're on our own. or maybe that's just me.....the next few words are key for me. "as you trust in him". Learning to trust God for everything and in everything is a lesson I think I'm going to be learning for a long time yet. But as we do trust him we gain perspective (although not necessarily understanding) and things fall into place.

As we trust him and turn to him, our peace and equilibrium bubble over - the hope that comes from knowing Jesus is infectious - like laughter among friends it overflows and impacts the  world around us. And truthfully that's ultimately where I want to get to - that the world is changed by the power of God; that what I pray and put into practice has an impact on the people I know, the places I go and the situations I see. That hope overflows into every person, place and atmosphere and that the power of God breaks out in healings, miracles of provision and  favour and that as I step out following God, he goes ahead and changes things - for the better. All the time.
