‘A body, though one, has many parts… you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.’
The Apostle Paul.
1 Corinthians 12:12, 27
Join the family
The Bible describes the church as a household, a body, and a temple made of living stones. These images all speak of unity, and our need for each other.
The Apostle Paul asked the Philippian church to be one in heart, mind and purpose. This is the aim of what we refer to as church membership. It allows you learn how we relate to one another (heart), what we believe (mind), and what we’re working towards together (purpose).
If you’re considering making Oxford Community Church your home, we would love to get to know you better, and to invite you to get to know us a bit more.
Discover Course
Discover is a three-week course, designed to help you find out who we are, and for us to hear what God has put on your heart, and help you discover a place where you can flourish among us.
The course runs every term over three consecutive Sundays. It takes place after the Sunday service from 12.45–14.00 and includes lunch.
Our next course is taking place on 14, 21, 28 September and you can sign up below.
Baptism
Jesus instructed his followers to make disciples and baptise them in the name of the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. Baptism is a wonderful blessing that washes us clean, gives us a brand new start, and places us into the family of God.
The Bible describes baptism as a part of becoming a Christian through personal repentance and faith in Jesus. Consequently, we only baptise those who are old enough to make their own choice, and we invite those who were christened as children to be baptised as believers. When baptising under-18s, we consult closely with parents and others such as youth leaders, to ensure that they are ready to make the decision.
We hold baptism services every term. If you’re interested in finding out more, watch this sermon, and get in touch with one of our pastors to arrange a conversation.
Personal Pastoring
Alongside Sunday services and Community Groups, personal pastoring is a one-to-one mentoring relationship that helps us develop as followers of Jesus.
Rather than having all the church’s pastoral care done by a few paid staff members, we empower many volunteers to care for and mentor others, with appropriate training and support. Personal Pastoring is offered for all in church membership.
If you would like to explore a personal pastoring relationship, or just meet one of the pastoral team to discuss a one-off need or question, please get in touch.
Community Groups
Community Groups are great places to connect with people locally, share life together midweek, and deepen our relationships with God and each other.
Join a Team
Serving teams are a fantastic way to get to know others, build community, and use your gifts and skills to make a valuable contribution to church life.
Giving
All church activities are sustained by faithful and generous giving. We encourage all who call OCC their home to give financially, as an act of worship.
